TO HEALING TRAUMA
& CALMING YOUR NERVOUS SYSTEM
Animals in the wild move through life differently. When faced with a threatening experience, they allow their nervous systems to complete a full cycle: activation, response, discharge, return to baseline. Humans, with our capacity for thought and language, often interrupt that cycle. We overanalyze, suppress, or override what the body is trying to do. Over time, that interrupted energy becomes stored, showing up as anxiety, numbness, hypervigilance, chronic tension, or a persistent sense that something is just off.
Somatic Experiencing (SE™) is a clinical approach to trauma resolution focused on what happens in your body both during an experience, and in the time after. During SE sessions, we track and gently complete those unfinished nervous system responses in a [safe space]. By giving your nervous system the conditions it needs to finally move through the cycle, you process the experience and are able to move on.
What to expect
SE sessions are slow, relational, and unique. We let your body set the pace. Together we’ll:
Build awareness of bodily sensations and the physical experience of emotions
Gently titrate (or dose) triggers so your system doesn’t get overwhelmed
Support the nervous system in healthy regulation (which includes riding the highs and the lows)
Restore a felt sense of safety, resilience, and presence
We’ll practice a compassionate curiosity, and set real, actionable goals for how you can make tangible changes in your life. At the end of each session, it’s my intention to help you feel at peace with your emotions and empowered to take up more space.
Sessions might also include:
Attachment repatterning
Inner critic work
Parts work
Meditation
Breathwork
Visualization
Why Hecate?
In ancient Greek mythology, the goddess Hecate leads Persephone into the underworld and back up each spring. She’s a guide capable of holding both light and dark, grief and joy.
While our work often centers around heavy emotions and the processing of grief, we also incorporate light, laughter, and play. Like Hecate, we welcome all dimensions of the human experience.
Sessions are $160 for 50 minutes over Zoom.
Hecate does not accept insurance, but sessions may be covered by your HSA or FSA.
